Camille Richardson |
AAE is proud to announce Camille Richardson from Columbia University in New York as their November Rival Athlete of the Month. Camille’s athletic achievements in both lacrosse and basketball are the reason for her being awarded this honor. Her most recent accomplishments took place at the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, NJ. Camille earned four letters in both lacrosse and basketball. She captained both her basketball and lacrosse teams as a senior. She made first-team All-MAPL and Trentonian and All-Prep in 2009. She was a two-time first team NJISDA All-League Division A. Camille finished her senior year at the Lawrenceville School as the leading scorer with 47 goals and 18 assists. She was also a two-time team MVP. Camille was selected to play in the 2010 Champion High School Showcase (HSS), a four-team US Lacrosse all-star event, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Richardson definitely held her own at the event against Kelyn Freedman, known as one of the top players in the nation at the draw. Camille chose to attend Columbia University. She is a Freshman with lots of collegiate potential. For the above-mentioned achievements, as well as any not noted, we congratulate you Camille! We are pleased to award you as our November Athlete of the Month. Our best wishes for a successful future in college. |
NOVEMBER’S COACH/AD:

|
Rick Rhoades |
AAE is proud to announce Rick Rhoades from Cameron ISD in Texas, as its November Rival Coach/AD of the Month. Rick was chosen, unanimously, to take over as Athletic Director for Cameron ISD back in 2009. He came from Coppell where he was a defensive coordinator since 2007. Prior to that, Rick was an assistant at Converse Judson and head coach in New Braunfels from 2000-2004. While at New Braunfels Rhoades complied an overall record of 42-21, leading the Unicorns to the playoffs in each of his five seasons and to the Class 4A Division I title game in 2002. At the time of his selection to be A.D. at Cameron ISD, the Cameron superintendent Rodney Fausett was quoted saying, “He basically meets the profile of what we were looking at,” “He’s a successful, proven head football coach. He’s very interested and supportive of our kids, (grades) 7-12, girls and boys. He is a very family-oriented, Christian man, believes very much in character and values, and he’s going to try to make sure he continues the tradition we have in Cameron.” Rick’s life motto is "Anything is possible for he who believes." (Mark 9:23). For this, and Rick’s numerous years of commitment to athletics, we are thrilled to honor him as our November Coach/AD of the Month. Our best wishes to you, Rick, for much continued success! |
JANUARY'S ATHLETE:Barrett Bollen
|
A cross country and track standout at Pacific Lutheran University, Barrett Bollen is more than deserving of the title of January’s Athlete of the Month. Barrett came to PLU and his coaches knew right away that he was a special athlete. His track coach Heather Kreier said, “Just seeing him as a freshman there was already charismatic energy coming from him. His ultra-positive attitude led me to think he’s going to be a leader.” And a leader he is. Bollen, inspired by his father who is a Vietnam combat veteran, enlisted in the Marine Reserves when he was 17, and after his first semester of college he was called to duty. Bollen, although a fulltime college student, was deployed to Iraq to serve for his country. The brave athlete returned in November of 2008 and decided to test his mindset and running abilities during his training by running in the Seattle Marathon. Although his athletics had to take a back seat to his duties as a Marine, Bollen came back and put up some amazing performances. Bollen transitioned back to the life of a student athlete in January 2009 and immediately made an impact on the track. Bollen is a Northwest Conference champion in 400m hurdles and 1,600m relay, but does it all when it comes to track and field. He competes in the decathlon, including the events of the long jump, shot put, 400m, discus, pole vault, 100m, high jump, 100m hurdles, javelin, and the 1,500m. This amazing display of athletic ability led Barrett to finish 6th in the decathlon at the Northwest Conference Championships at the end of last season. His performances last season has him ranking right up with some of the greats in PLU track and field history. His 1st place finish at Saint Martin’s Invitational in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.69 seconds has him ranked 18th in the school’s record books. Also his 4x400m relay team took a 1st place finish at the Saint Martin’s Invitational with a time of 3:19.26, ranking 10th in the school’s history. Bollen is a three time captain for the cross country team and the 2010-11 track and field captain and MVP. Barrett has displayed tremendous amounts of courage and leadership as a Marine, athlete, and student. Thank you, Barrett, for bravely serving our country and congratulations on your amazing athletic accomplishments. Your leadership is truly an inspiration and we would like to wish you the best of luck on your upcoming track season. |
JANUARY'S COACH:Todd Fairbourne
|
AAE is proud to announce that Todd Fairbourne has captured the first myAAEworld Rival Coach spot of 2012. Fairbourne, Utah Valley University Softball Coach, has earned this month’s honors for his very impressive softball coaching career and for taking UVU softball from junior college play into the extremely competitive Division I with great success. Todd started his athletic career as a baseball player, winning 2 state championships at Lehi High School. Thirteen seasons ago, when Fairbourne came to UVU, the softball team was in the junior college ranks. In his first 6 seasons with the Wolverines, he led the team to a record of 242-94, establishing him as UVU’s winningest coach, also while winning a national championship in the 2000 season, along with a 2nd and 9th place finish. During those seasons, he coached 23 All-Americans and his team was ranked within the top-six in the nation for 4 years straight. With the remarkable amount of success that Fairbourne and the UVU Wolverines achieved in junior college competition, the Lady Wolverines made the move into Division I Softball. The team was able to get amazing victories over tremendous programs like BYU, Brown, Utah State, Utah, and Harvard. Fairbourne was able to establish UVU as a respected Division I program as they moved up the ranks. His squad finished the 2009 season ranked 6th in the nation for batting average, an impressive .320, which was also a school record. In the 2010 season, his team accomplished a Division I school record by racking up 28 wins, which led to a conference title in the Great West Conference and Fairbourne was named coach of the year for the conference. Last season, he was honored as Pacific Coast Softball Conference Mountain Division Coach of the Year after his team came in third in the conference. Todd’s remarkable commitment to his UVU softball team and continuous dedication to strive for success has led his team to reach new heights. Keep up the great work Todd and best of luck to you and your team this spring! |
